Popped a run flat on my 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si

On Friday, I'm tooling around in the Hamptons, loving life in my new 6 speed silver bullet. I noticed on the gauge cluster there is a "light" on, it looks like:
!
www

I figured it was low water or low washer fluid indicator. I think nothing of it as I zoom on home away from the crazy Hampton people.

I called BMW via the SOS button, they can't figure out what the issue is so I called the service department at Southampton BMW. They tell me I have a flat tire. What?

Sure enough, I see a silver screw sticking out of the passenger front tire. I drive the car (?) over to the local repair station. I tell them, my 8 week old BMW has a screw in the tire. Can you please plug it so I can be on my way?

The man brings a newspaper clipping from around the corner. I feel my testicles start to tighten. Just like the time I was looking for $5000 engagement rings back in 1991.

Sorry son, you can't fix a run-flat. You need to change the tire, $280 bucks after taxes.

WTF man, I made two payments on this puppy and dished out some cash to get into it for a low monthly payment. Now I have to dish out MORE $$?

Sorry, BMW doesn't cover tires. Everything else but.

I gave the man his (3) c notes and drove back home.

(I still love my car over the Audi) :P

Just picked up my 2006 BMW Z4!

I'll have pictures this weekend, This car is ROCKIN'! I am loving everything about the car, no complaints.

For those of you driving a Audi TT or ANY 20v:

There is no turbo lag in a Z4
The Z4 shifts like a dream
The power band comes ON after 4000 RPM
The Z4 has a bigger trunk
The Z4 has a one button open/close for the rag top, no latch
-------------------------
The Z4 has no glovebox to speak of
The Z4 has no quattro
Uh.. that's it?

Pictures are coming

BMW Z4 progress

I just met with the credit manager of Southampton BMW. I asked him about Sirius Satellite radio and something I had on the Audi TT. I ordered the Audi with a plastic coating on the entire front of the car to protect it from rock chips.

I'm still on the fence about both these items, its almost $1300 more clams.

I'm really happy with this dealership than Competition BMW in Smithtown. I told the salesperson that I purchased a new 2002 E320 from Competition Mercedes-Benz and I had my 1994 E320 serviced there as well. I'm a repeat customer.

Before I went to Disneyworld in April, the Smithtown salesperson was working out the details on delivery. When I came back, he said BMW is running a great promotion, a 24 month lease!

Just for giggles, I went to Southampton BMW to price compair. Everyone there was really nice and they came back with a price that was *$1000* cheaper out of pocket?!
I left a shitty message on the Smithtown salespersons phone. He called me back and said he would match the price, then beat it by $100 bucks.

The people from Southampton have been nothing but straight up with me so I'm dealing with them.

They have to get this puppy on a truck in S. Carolina where its built and get it to me!!!!

More work on the 1982 Corvette Collector Edition

I went to Buzz Chew Chevy in Southampton to have some work done on the car. The guys at Buzz Chew did a nice job, no complaints over there. Anything is better than Ramp Chevy. You want to pull your hair out dealing with the service department.

I had the following work done:

Wheel Alignment
Bulb replacement
Fender repair

I ran over a pothole and the lower front fender came loose. I went to the Chevy dealer and looked over the parts, they are starting to get scarce! They had some sweet 06's on their lot. I was getting the feeling that I should pour gas on this sumbitch and call it a day. Then, I punched myself in the nads and said what's the matter for you? I have a paid off Corvette that I can take out anytime I want, it cost me $300 a year for insurance.

I left $140 on the cashiers desk and drove my little X-fire kitten back to Port Jeff. I had the roof off, doing 80 mph on Sunrise.

It doesnt get any better.

My 1982 Collector Edition Corvette is running GREAT!

Dudes, (and dudettes)

Dano in Port Jeff hooked my car up! After driving it for a month, I've noticed the gas mileage increased to 19 MPG avg. I had the car on Sunrise Highway with the 85 mph speedo pegged! I blew the doors off a Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor and a Acura RSX. They both buzzed me doing 70. I said ok, its on now! I nailed my little cross-fire kitten! I easily passed the RSX, he turned off the Westhampton exit.

Traffic cleared up, the C230 had 4 car lengths on me from the start. I pushed passed the car after 95 mph and had 5 car lengths on it before slowing down.

Also, forget the G35. BMW is having a super deal on the Z4. I placed the order 3 weeks ago and hoepfully I should have the car in the next 8 days.

Stay tuned and remember the wave!

It's all over. I gave back the Audi a few weeks ago.

When the lease ended, I thought I could work with Audi with some creative financing. They are a bunch of clueless morons. I gave them the car back with 21K miles.

I went looking at the Z4 last weekend and the G35 coupe. My wife says get another ragtop, I'm thinking about a smoke grey, 6 speed G35 coupe. Infinity has a great interest rate, well see in the next few weeks.

My 1982 Collector Edition Corvette just came out of the shop for a tune up. If anyone has dealt with Ramp Chevy in Port Jefferson NY, it's like banging your head against the wall. I found a local guy, Dano's Auto Clinic. Dan really took the time and tuned up my baby!

My 2003 convertible Audi TT & 1982 Collector Edition Corvette

I know what your going to say, I've lost it when I passed 40 years old.. WRONG you judgmental frig!

I do not believe in the saying "The one with the most toys wins", not my style man.

Here's the dillio: I bought my Corvette years ago, It's a constant work in progress. When I was in High School, I saw this car and said "someday..." Well, guess what?! Someday came and I got bit by the Shark baby!

The Audi was a different story. My last position came with a company car, a Honda Accord. I would pray every day the car would throw a rod! It was a 4 cylinder POS with cloth interior. The gas mileage wasn't that good! Something happened where I had to give the car to salesperson and they asked if they can give me $$ each month towards a new truck?

Well guess what Skippy?

My wife was already driving a Acura MDX so why would I need ANOTHER truck?

I figured I can get something that would get great gas mileage and it MUST be a convertible. (Hey, it's their money!) Now the smart thing would have been to pocket the cash and call it a day but after seeing my kid brother pass away from cancer when he was 30 years old, life is too short. Live everyday like it's your last man.

I test drove two seaters like crazy. The Z3 almost made it into my driveway, The S2000 was a small plastic toy and the 350Z should have been left for dead when the Vette killed it off in the 90's.

So you ask, Why not another Vette? I know, they are really sweet but I needed something that can handle the inclement Northeast weather.

So my choice was the Convertible, 6 speed, 225 HP, baseball interior Black Audi TT. Man oh man, this car does it all and does it well. The car can use more power but other than that it's a really nice ride.

The car has had it share of problems:

Glove box handle broke off in my hand
Hazard signal switch went bad
Tires are too thin, I popped one going over a pothole
4th gear blew and the tranny needed to be replaced
Front Xexon light went bad

All of these items were covered under warranty. The car has 20,500 miles and the lease is up in 2/06. The buy back is 23K, I think I'm going to buy this sucker!
